When was the last time that you were filled with hope? Not a fleeting feeling of optimism, but a deep welling within that also ushers in gratitude, joy, faith, and love?
I was filled with this kind of hope that speaks of eternity last night.
Last night, Ian and I joined a couple thousand people at the Matt Maher concert at Christ Cathedral in Anaheim.
Now, I must confess, I haven’t always been a praise and worship kind of girl. And to a large degree, I still am not. I often prefer quiet prayer in the morning with my cup of coffee.
What I found last night, though, felt like a rare and sacred moment in a world often fueled by division and apathy.
For a couple of hours, thousands gathered and sang about things that most of the time our hearts only know. Through Matt’s lyrics and leading the gathered in worship, hearts united in recognizing Jesus living and moving in our lives. Jesus as our healer; Jesus as our friend; Jesus as our consolation; Jesus as advocate for the poor and forgotten; Jesus as our source of strength; Jesus as the hope of each of us, and hope of the world.
Friends, let’s join together, open our hearts to Jesus, and be filled with the hope that only he can bring. If you don’t know how to begin, I suggest taking a listen to Matt’s new album, which I’ve linked below.
